I would love to have several parent volunteers in the classroom. Your child would love to see you at school! (And they won't always feel that way, so you should take advantage of it now.)
This year I REALLY NEED help with our reading centers. Consider coming in a couple of days a week at about 9:20 or 1:00 for about a half-hour. It would be a HUGE HELP!
Other duties could include any of these that you like:
Listening to a child read
Reading a story aloud to the class
Reading a story aloud to the class
Correcting papers
Making copies
Watering plants, weeding our tiny garden
Cleaning a pet cage
Preparing art projects
Assisting with art projects
Passing out supplies
Filing
Changing bulletin boards
Helping children with computers, blogging, etc.
Helping a child or small group with their work
Assisting me with a science project or garden
Helping with bathroom breaks
Supervising a small reading group
Helping a child clean their desk
Another idea that you might have
Sign-up will be on a first-come, first-served basis. You may sign up in the classroom, or call, send a note, or email me to let me know when you would like to come. 8:15-10:15 is the most important time, but other times are fine too, depending on what you'd like to help with, and depending on your schedule. You could come every week on a scheduled basis, or just drop in once in a while. If you sign up, you would have to fill out a special WINGS Volunteer form in the office, but it only takes a minute. I'd love to have YOU!
